Stream Video / mp3 From PC to PS3
Today we will look @ how to play those mp3 and videos you have on your PC with your PS3. Its not as hard as may think it is. I am doing this on a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista and streaming it on to my 60 gig PS3.
1) First you need to install TVersity
TVersity is a free UPnP media server that can manage your video and music files anywhere on your PC and stream them out to your PS3 over the network. It will also transcode almost any video you can throw at it into a codec your console can play.
If you have UAC ( User Account Control ) enabled on vista , you will not be able to install TVersity. If its disabled proceed to step 2. Now lets see how to disable UAC
- Hit the Windows button and R
- Type in MSCONFIG in the Run menu.
- Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find “Disable UAC” . Click on that line.
- Press the Launch button.
- A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
- Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.
install TVersity now.
2) Add Media Source
Click the giant plus sign in the top left corner to add the folder with your videos or mp3. Click on the Advanced>> button, set your transcoding preferences to “When Needed” this will make sure most of your files play will work properly on your PS3.
3) Launch TVersity Media Server
In the main TVersity menu( the 1st button on the top left ) select “Start Sharing”
4) Its all done
Fire up your PS3, Scroll to Video, go down to TVersity Media Server. Happy Streaming

Okay, followed directions, but my ps3 wont find tversity under the video media search. It is a wireless connection, does that make a difference?

Cool.. alternative to this would be Orb.com which does sort or less thesame and also enables you to stream from your tv-tunercards.
Using it on my Wii, Wizard, Tytn2 & Raphael and EEE

In Vista, if you just save your files under the ‘documents’ defaults ‘music’ and ‘videos’ they show up on the PS3 x-bar, no third party software needed. Connects via wi-fi and off you go, easy!
